North Texas DEC MOU With Dubai World Central to Benefit all District Export Councils

A recent Memorandum of Understanding between the North Texas District Export Council and Dubai World Central will provide a basis for District Export Councils to play a central role in the development of international business ties between American companies and the country of Dubai through Dubai World Central. The National DEC played a key part in the initiative behind this MOU.

While the initial intent of the MOU is to facilitate the participation of companies and people within North Texas that wish to engage in commerce with DWC–with the North Texas DEC serving as a conduit to communicate the needs of DWC to appropriate parties within North Texas and to introduce those parties and their proposed commerce to DWC–the National DEC envisions working with District Export Councils throughout the country to enable them to serve as conduits as well in facilitating the participation of companies within their local communities that wish to do business in Dubai through DWC.

In remarking on this vision Daniel Ogden, National DEC Chair, stated that “this MOU provides the foundation to work with District Export Councils throughout the United States regarding the opportunities for companies to further their international business objectives in the Gulf Region through the excellent services and capabilities of Dubai World Central.” Radi Al-Rashed, North Texas DEC Chair Emeritus, also commented on the MOU by saying “this agreement is a watershed event not only for the North Texas District Export Council but also for District Export Councils in general as they will play a primary role in the development of business relationships between American companies and Dubai, which, due to the strategic location and facilities of Dubai World Central, is a gateway for companies doing business in the Middle East and Gulf regions.”

A strategic initiative of the Government of Dubai, Dubai World Central is a master-planned aerotropolis designed to propel the emirate’s economy into the future, thereby leveraging the emirate’s position as a leading global trade, business and aviation hub by the development of eight districts which form a compelling economic platform for businesses to reach greater heights and expand their horizons. DWC is eager to introduce American companies to its products, services, consultations and cultural links in advancement of the Government of Dubai’s objectives for the DWC aerotropolis project.
