Alabama District Export Council
Anne Burkett, CGBP, serves as executive director of the North Alabama International Trade Association (NAITA). Ms. Burkett has over 35 years of experience in international trade development and was responsible for implementing the nationally and internationally recognized partnership between the International Trade Development Center for Madison County, Alabama and NAITA - an export promotion and expansion public/private joint venture between government and industry. Export development is a key component of the North Alabama region's economic development strategy.
Ms. Burkett also serves as a member of the executive committee of the Alabama Export Council, board member and Communications Officer of the National Association of District Export Councils (NADEC) and serves on the Economic Development Advisory Committee for the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. She is an active member of the International Economic Development Council, the Japan America Society of Alabama, the Alabama-Germany Partnership, Global Ties Alabama, NDIA Women in Defense, the Women's Economic Development Council of North Alabama, and an alumni of Leadership Greater Huntsville and the FBI Citizens Academy.
Ms. Burkett is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and International Trade. She also had undergraduate work at the University of Madrid, Madrid, Spain. She was selected by the Japanese government to participate in the Export to Japan Study Program in Tokyo and by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to participate in the Traderoots International Trade Leadership Program in Washington, DC. In 2016, she was selected by the British Embassy in Washington, DC to participate in the Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership (TTIP) Business Ambassador’s Program. Ms. Burkett is a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) as designated by NASBITE International.
